What Is Liquid Potassium Silicate
Liquid Potassium Silicate is a source of highly soluble potassium and silicon. It is primarily used as a silica amendment, with the added benefit of supplying extra potassium.

How does Liquid Potassium Silicate work
Silicon is transported from the roots to the shoots in the xylem along with the transpiration stream, with silicon being deposited in the leaf epidermal cells, xylem vessels, cell walls, and cuticle following evaporation of transpiration water. The accumulation of silicon in epidermal cells and cell walls results in the development of more erect leaf blades and a thicker, stronger cuticle layer which limits non-stomatal transpiration and water loss. More erect leafs also improve light interception characteristics and increase photosynthetic activity.
When is Liquid Potassium Silicate used
Soils contain varying amounts of soluble silica, in the form of silicic acid. Organic soils and sands are generally poor in silica content, while available silica in clay soils depends on their pH and fertility. A soil test can be used to determine the amount of available silica in the soil.

Plants depend upon Potassium (K) to regulate the opening and closing of stomates, the microscopic openings or pores in the epidermis of leaves to exchange carbon dioxide (CO2), water vapor, and oxygen (O2) with the atmosphere. Enzymes serve as catalysts for chemical reactions, being utilized but not consumed in the process. Potassium (K) increases crop yield and improves quality. It is required for numerous plant growth processes.
